COMMUNITY THEATER APP
Community theater callboard — one production home for the whole company
What you get
Green Room is the production home for community theaters, independents, storefronts, and volunteer companies. Built by Grainger, a community-theater volunteer — onstage and backstage — who is directing a first show this season and writes software for rooms like these.
Season and call calendar
Rehearsals, tech, and performances in one place the whole company can open.
Role-aware views
People see the calls that apply to them, not a wall of every name on the sheet.
Announcements with read receipts
Post the note. See who opened it. Stop asking the group text if they saw it.
Chat
Production chat, department rooms, and DMs — next to the calendar, not in a separate thread.
Rehearsal files
Sides, ground plans, and the packet live with the show instead of in someone's Drive.
Line Runner offline
Run lines on the train or in the lobby, even when the basement has no signal.
Calendar sync
Push dates out to the Google Calendar people already keep on their phones.
Web, iOS, and Android
Open it on a laptop in the booth or a phone in the parking lot.
Next to the tools these rooms already use
Group texts
Still the default, and they work until the first room change or the late call. Keep the thread for the ride home. Put the production in one home so the calendar, the call, and the note are not buried in last Tuesday's chat.
Google Calendar
Perfect for putting dates on a phone. The company still needs a shared place for who is called and whether they saw the note. Green Room syncs out to the calendar they already use.
Virtual Callboard
Already in a lot of community-theater rooms, and it can stay there. Green Room is complementary: the production home for calendar, calls, announcements, chat, and files together — if you want that in one place.
School drama programs are also served. To compare tools side by side, including Band and ProductionPro, see the rehearsal schedule app comparison.
Free for one show. Pro when you run more.
Free is one open production, unlimited people, no card — web and mobile. Pro adds multiple productions, inventory with QR, and budgets.
Questions volunteer companies actually ask
What is a community theatre callboard?
A shared production home for the volunteer company: the rehearsal calendar, who is called, announcements with read receipts, chat, and files. Green Room is that place — one open production, unlimited people, no card.
Can a volunteer company run one show for free?
Yes. Green Room Free is one open production, unlimited cast and crew, web and mobile, no credit card. Pro is for companies running more than one show, plus inventory with QR and budgets.
We already use a group text and Google Calendar. Do we have to switch?
No. Those are still the default in community rooms, and they still work. Green Room sits next to them as the production home: role-aware calls, announcements you can see were read, chat by production or department, and files in one place. Calendar syncs out to the calendar people already use.
How does Green Room sit next to Virtual Callboard?
Virtual Callboard is already in a lot of community-theater rooms. Keep it if the company is happy there. Green Room is the production home — season calendar, role-aware views, read receipts, chat, rehearsal files, and Line Runner offline — on web, iOS, and Android.
Does everyone need a paid seat?
No. Unlimited people on Free. The company joins one production; nobody pays per actor or crew member.
Will this work for independents and storefront companies?
Yes. If you are a volunteer company, an independent, or a storefront running evening rehearsals around day jobs, this is the page for you. One production home for the whole company.
